Wed 6th December – Our EGM where we elected next year’s President (Lesley), treasurer (Lynn) and secretary (Michael) as well as a committee meeting.
Wed 29th November – As it was a 5th Wednesday there was no official meeting but a group of us and some friends met up for a meal at Trunk in Bramhall. Yummy.
Wed 22nd November – Our first meeting at the Alma Lodge. Jim Williams gave an excellent presentation on “Great Forgers”

Thu 26th October – Charter Night – Farewell to The Deanwater, great night, great speaker, great to be joined by other Rotary Clubs. Photo shows a new member, Philip, reading the words of the Charter, which rests on the table.
Sat 21st October = Concert in St Michaels – a wonderful evening of music from the Maia Choir and KEMS Concert Band
Wed 18th October – Paul Richards spoke on Stockport Town Centre Redevelopment. Massive changes taking place.
Wed 11th October – Kelsey Few made a return visit to tell us the extraordinary tale of her attendance at the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea
Wed 4th October – Committees – loads going on – Wrap up warm, concert, table top sale, fashion show and Christmas at least!
Wed 27th September – Andrew Turnbull, a former club member, gave a very insightful talk on mental health.
Wed 20th September – Neil Lomas – Rowing the Atlantic
Neil told us about his epic row across the Atlantic on a 12 person boat to raise money for Alzheimer’s. He is really close to raising his target of £25k.
Wed 13th September – An evening of crown green bowling followed by a nice meal at Cheadle Bowling Club

Sat 2nd September – Scarecrow festival
Wed 30th August – A fifth Wednesday so no official meeting. Nonetheless a dozen or so did a scarecrow trail followed by a meal in Duttons with a quiz! Some dressed as scarecrows!
Wed 23rd August – Rebecca Harris-Duggan from SignPost for Carers gave us an update.
Mon 21st August – Chelwood food bank was running really low, so off we went and bought lots of needed high priority items.

Sun 30th July – President Pat’s BBQ took place at The Hills. We were joined by Victor, a Ukrainian blind Paralympian competing in Manchester. Victor is also the President of his local Rotary club in Ukraine.
Wed 26th July – Helen from Just-Ice Poynton gave an insightful and somewhat scary talk on modern slavery
Sun 16th July – An intrepid group of 13 went to Gawsworth Hall to enjoy a picnic and a Dire Straits tribute band. Despite some atrocious weather they enjoyed themselves
Wed 12th July – Mike Goddard gave a very entertaining review of his life, much of which was spent as a comedian on cruise ships
Wed 5th July – With the new Rotary year staring on 1st July this was our handover meeting where people formally took on their new roles and presented plans, hopes, aspirations and themes for the coming year.
Wed 28th June – Dale, one of our members, gave a talk about his life in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Absolutely fascinating.
Wed 21st June – Shirley Hamlett – Health Watch Stockport. Shirley, assisted by Claire explained the role and activities of Healthwatch.
Wed 14th June – With no official meeting 10 of us went for a meal out at The Plough and Flail

Fri 27th January – CHADS theatre night. Another annual event.
Wed 18th January – Our annual “float quiz” made its full post Covid return. The various collecting teams who went out with the Xmas float joined us for a fun, mostly musical, quiz and buffet.
Wed 11th January – Sue Few and her daughter Kelsey told us about their fundraising methods to enable Kelsey to attend the world scout jamboree, about their love for the great outdoors and much more.
Wed 4th January 2023 – Committees and EGM. We elected our President for 2023/4 and also Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Lots of discussion about future events and activities.

Santa’s Float went out 3rd to 19th December
Santa would like to say ‘Thank You’ to all the wonderful businesses that have enabled him to bring big, big smiles to lots of children’s faces with goody bags.
Wed 7th December – 20 of us enjoyed a fabulous meal at the Honeypot Caffe, the new Polish restaurant in Bramhall.
Wed 30th November – Jackie’s Xmas dinner followed by a fun seasonal quiz run by Sue.

Wed 16th November – Our member, Dev, gave an illuminating and insightful update on the global Covid situation.
Wed 16th November – Worsley Rotary club organised a visit to Gita Bhavan Hindu Temple. About 80 Rotarians from 11 clubs (including 7 of us!) attended and learnt a little about Hinduism and enjoyed a tasty lunch.

Wed 2nd November – Fashion show at Trunk Lounge. A great time was had by all, eating good food, seeing fashions by Modiste and What Lyes Beneath and enjoying Laura’s singing.
Wed 26th October – Kate Leadbeater & Jessica Dhaliwal spoke about how our donation from the circus would be used on the Treetops Children’s Ward.
Wed 19th October – Charter Night at the Crown & Conspirator. We celebrated our 36th birthday with an evening of good food, wine and company! Even had a quiz based on whisky, gin and general booze.
Wed 12th October – Loise Carpenter told us of her work with Afghan refugees living in Manchester hotels.

Wed 24th August – The Vasa. A very impressive and detailed presentation by Michelle Rosen of the history of the Swedish ship VASA, beautifully supported by actual pictures she and her husband took when they visited the VASA Museum in Stockholm on a number of occasions

Wed 10th August – Sarah Mollitt spoke about Walthew House. She covered its history, its current work and gave some insights into the practical problems of sensory loss.

Wed 20th July – Another Bramhall restaurant , this time Otto’s Vegan Empire. 23 people enjoyed truly flavoursome food. Most were not Vegans but all enjoyed great food.
Wed 13th July – Tony Redmond, founder of UK Med, gave an extraordinary and inspirational talk about medical aid in disasters and his role in its evolution.
Wed 6th July – Handover meeting. New President Pat took over the reins from outgoing President Sue.

Wed 22nd June – Brian White gave the first half of his photographic wildlife talk “In the footsteps of Dr Livingstone” Fabulous images! We also presented MNDA Manchester with a cheque for £13,000

Fri 18th March – “3 Presidents” Night at the Pinewood Hotel. Another step towards normality. A black tie event, with an after dinner speaker! Peter Turner gave a talk/demo about the art of magic. Very entertaining.
Wed 16th March – Bowling at Parts Wood – wearing sim specs to simulate various blindness conditions
Wed 9th March – Steven Shakeshaft, a Chester tour guide, took us through a beautifully illustrated (with real 35mm slides!) tour of Chester. His in depth knowledge shone through.

Fri 21st January – We returned to CHADS for our theatre evening. Reduced audience numbers, everyone double jabbed and covid tested. No mix and mingle buffet with the cast afterwards. Despite these covid precautions a very pleasant evening for an Alan Ayckbourn play.
